Protect Your Assets

What we are talking about is Paint Protection Film –  a transparent, nearly invisible vinyl film that is made from ultra-rugged polyurethane. First developed during the Vietnam war for the protection of helicopter rotor blades and other military applications, PPF has evolved into a highly durable thermoplastic film that maintains its natural shape once stretched or applied.  The film protects painted or wrapped surfaces against scratches, bird droppings, fender rubs, acid rain and food and drink spills, as well as providing protection from UV exposure.  It also has self-healing properties, meaning that light scratches will disappear with a mere waft of a heatgun.  The film is made by a number of manufacturers, some of which also have thicker spec film for specific applications for use on jet skis, motorcross bikes etc. which tend to take a bit of a pounding.  The film is available in matte and gloss, and is applied by way of a wet application – i.e it is applied with water and a squeegee rather than dry.  If protecting your vessel’s paint is important to you, then this is just the stuff to do it.  Whilst it cannot claim to be bullet proof, it does provide a cost effective long term solution for the protection of vessel’s paint job.
